The number of terrorist incidents in Japan has never been lower, thanks to the efforts of an organization called Direct Attack (DA). This organization raises orphaned girls as murderers to carry out assassinations under their "Lycoris" program. Takina Inoue is an exceptional Lycoris with a strong sense of life and a penchant for perfection. Unfortunately, a hostage situation tests her patience, and the resulting lack of coordination leads to her being removed from the DA. Unhappy at losing the only place that belongs to her, she reluctantly heads to her new base of operations - LycoReco, a camouflage cafe.

However, Takina's new partner turns out to be completely different from what she imagined. Despite being the famous Lycoris prodigy, Chisato Nishikigi doesn't seem to care about his mission. She drags Takina into doing all sorts of odd jobs with the simple explanation of helping those in need. Takina was even more confused when Chisato took down an armed group that attacked without killing any of them. Feeling like a dry fish, Takina itch wants to be reinstated into DA — but Chisato is determined to prove to her that life is more than just taking them.

When Demon Queen Echidona began her invasion of the human world, people turned to hero Leo Demonheart to protect them. Endowed with insurmountable strength, Leo easily repelled Echidona's army, thereby saving the world. But instead of gratitude or admiration, Leo is met with contempt and scorn from his fellow humans, who fear his superior power and believe it could eventually bring humanity to an end.

Banished from the kingdom he once called home, Leo wandered aimlessly across the land until, one day, he heard rumors of Echidna's efforts to rebuild her army. Hoping that Devilkind might accept him as an ally, he returned to the demon queen's castle and asked for Echidona's help.

Naturally, Echidona immediately rejected him. Not all hope was lost, however, as Leo managed to convince four of Echidona's generals to let him secretly work under their supervision. Abandoning the identity of a masked shadow knight named Onyx, Leo takes on the problems of the demon army in turn — gradually improving the quality of life around the castle. Despite attending the Royal Magic Academy in Wenias Kingdom, Sable had the worst grades in the entire school. Since he has no memory of his time before joining the academy, when Headmaster Albus assigned him a special training regimen in the south, Sable enthusiastically accepted it. Besides the Wizard of Dawn, Roux Cristasse; Holt, a human girl with antlers; and Kudd, a Beastfallen lizard, Sable must establish a witch village in an area where anti-witch sentiment remains strong.

During their journey, the quartet steer clear of former members of the Dia Ignis Arbiters — a group of witch hunters notorious for killing witches and civilians. Five years ago, their organization was disbanded and pardoned when the war between the Church and the witches ended, but their members lingered and were ready to arrest any witch they encountered.

Thankfully, with Roux's Scepter of Ludens, Sable's "witch-eater", and Sable's unlimited supply of magic, the party is able to fulfill their mission for Albus. Otherwise, Sable's memories of magic and the academy would be taken away, and he would have nothing left to guide him to the silver-haired mage who first rescued him.

The monotonous life of university student Yuuhi Amamiya is turned upside down with the arrival of Sir Noi Crezant, a talking lizard who claims to be a knight of justice. Crezant further explains that the world is in peril - threatened by the mage Animus, who wants to destroy it with his Biscuit Hammer, a giant structure hovering above Earth's orbit. As the newly appointed Lizard Knight, Yuuhi must fight alongside the other Beast Knights to protect the princess and save the planet from destruction.

Not impressed with the prospect of risking her life, Yuuhi continued her day as usual - until a golem created by Animus suddenly confronted him.
