Hachi: A Dog's Tale is a Hollywood remake of the famous Japanese film Hachiko Monogatari that premiered in 1987. The film is based on the true story of a loyal dog Hachi (known to the Japanese as Hachiko). Hachiko is Professor Ueno Hidesaburo Sensei's pet dog. Every morning it follows him to Shibuya Station when he goes to work and waits for him at the ticket gate every evening. But it all ended on May 21, 1925, when Professor Ueno suddenly passed away in a stroke. Hachiko missed eating for three days, but even after the professor's funeral, the dog regularly came to wait for him at the train station every night. Shortly after that, Hachi was transferred to a relative of Ueno-sensei and his family's former gardener. But wherever he was, he would sneak out every night and run to the familiar train station to wait. During the next nearly 10 years, sunny days as well as rainy days, strong winds or cold snow, people will see the dog waiting at the train station to fit the 6pm train.
