Some anime have all the characteristic gothic "traps" but the stories do not hold the opinion. While some other anime have a boring aesthetic. But with Black Butler, both the look, sound + feel are gothic in every sense.

The story follows a 10-year-old boy who trades his soul for a demon in order to gain revenge against those who murdered his family; the content really couldn't be more gothic if it were written by Mary Shelley herself. Moreover, the protagonist, Ciel Phantomhive, owns one of the greatest anime names ever penned. The relationship between Ciel and Sebastian is beautifully written. The second season does not reach the same heights as the first, but you should definitely not skip even one season.
