  The film story is adapted from the novel, Criminal Luc Yen Thuc written by female writer Nghiem Ca Linh. The story deals with the topic of "Cultural Revolution", once considered a taboo of Chinese cinema.

  Luc Yen Thuc was a professor before being sent to a labor camp during the Cultural Revolution.
