Contact is a 1997 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis. It is a film from the 1985 novel of the same name by Carl Sagan.

Jodie Foster portrayed the protagonist of the film, Dr. Eleanor "Ellie" Arroway, a scientist of SETI, who found strong evidence of extraterrestrial life and was chosen for the first time exposure. The film also features Matthew McConaughey, James Woods, Tom Skerritt, William Fichtner, John Hurt, Angela Bassett, Rob Lowe, Jake Busey and David Morse.

The film revolves around the astronomers Dr. Ellie Arroway, who had long been interested in the distant lands, a nurturing love in his father's childhood, Ted Arroway, who had died when she was nine to leave her then orphaned. His current work in supervising the extraterrestrial life is based on love and is part of a respect for his father.

Since funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) has been pulled into his job, called some people, including her NSF high David Drumlin, as much science fiction than science, Ellie, with a few colleagues of his rogue scientist, have looked funded from there ever they could get it to continue their work. As Ellie and his fellow listeners are derived from the vicinity of the star Vega, Ellie feels an open.
