This horror anime is adapted from the manga title Corpse Party. The setting of the story takes place at Heavenly Host Elementary School. Previously, this school still existed and operated normally like many other schools, but since the disappearances and murder news broke out one after another, this school has been heavily destroyed.
By the time the main Corpse Party story takes place, another school - named Kisaragi Academy - has been rebuilt on the site of the former Heavenly Host School. A group of students from Kisaragi Academy have been transported to another mysterious dimension by a sudden earthquake.
In this dimension, the Heavenly Host school is still active and is haunted by the spirits of the past. And all the children of Kisaragi Academy have to do is find their way back, while having to survive the mysterious forces plaguing their surroundings.
