After graduating from high school, Mai Kawai's first priority is to find a job with a stable income so as not to turn her face like her father. However, despite having passed many civil service exams, she was still faced with a harsh reality: nearly every institute rejected her entrance. The only place that accepts her is a police academy, which she reluctantly joins.
Even now that she is a real cop, the world continues to be cruel to Mai. Because of her expertise, she unexpectedly received constant criticism from disgruntled citizens. Frustrated by the hostile treatment, she decided to submit her resignation after only a few months on the job. But on the same day Mai decides to quit her job, she meets Seiko Fuji - the former ace of the Criminal Affairs Department, who has been appointed as her new instructor. Seeing her new colleague bewitched, Mai delays leaving and gives her fascinating job a second chance.
