The first game in the historical fantasy anime series Hakuouki (Silver Brother Demon) debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2008. The game follows Chizuru Yukimura and her search for her father. On her way to Kyoto to find him, she is attacked but is later rescued by a special police force called the Shinsengumi, who bring her in for questioning. She allied with the group, who are also trying to find her father because he used to create the elixir of Water of Life. Unfortunately, this isn't a "good" Water of Life elixir, instead, it turns people into one-of-a-kind vampires.
The 12-episode Hakuouki anime premiered in 2010, followed by a second season that same year. This otome game owns two different manga, followed by a third series as a prequel titled Hakuoki Reimeiroku released in 2012. After that, two films were released in 2013 and 2014.
