The movie Hibike! Euphonium begins with a little girl named Kumiko Oumae, who played in the middle school symphony orchestra visiting the symphony club as a freshman. Kumiko's classmates Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko is hesitant to see her old friend Reina.
