In 2013, the Korean film industry sadly welcomed a brave and humane work called Hope. Based on a real-life criminal case that shook Korea in 2008 (the Nayoung case), Hope describes the infuriating development and recovery process from the trauma of sexual abuse of an eight-year-old girl named So Won (Lee Re). On the way to school alone, So Won encountered a drunkard and was raped, sexually abused and left with pain beyond the framework of physical trauma. By the time she was discovered and saved, the girl had to carry a lifetime of physical and psychological sequelae. To the point that she was even afraid of her own father. So Won panics every time his father approaches. So Won's parents were extremely painful in the process of healing heavy injuries with their daughter that only happened in a split second by a drunk bastard. And the man who committed the crime, with just one sentence, "I remember nothing," he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. This is a psychological drama that causes pain about pedophilia in society instead of intentionally causing negative emotions to the audience.
