Chevalier D'eon was not a popular name, his work as an androgynous spy and French diplomat gained some fame in the 1700s in France. Appreciating D'eon's reputation by the fact that in the last part of her life, D'Eon chose to live as a woman, and wanted to be seen as such.The 2008 historical anime with fantasy elements specifically titled Le Chevalier D'Eon (The Knight of D'Eon) is the film adaptation based on this story. Chevalier D'Eon is often haunted by the ghost of his sister, and the character D'eon de Beaumont in Le Chevalier D'Eon seeks to avenge her death.
