Two years after a tragic event in a Muslim country, returning to Washington D.C., Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) and wife Leah (Radha Mitchell) are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child. However, in the position of the defence of President Asher (Aaron Eckhart), Banning is always ready to receive duties.
When the British prime minister died suddenly, Banning was accompanied by the secret director of Lynne Jacobs (Angela Bassett) accompanying the president to the British Prime Minister's national funeral at St Paul's church in London. With the attendance of most leaders in the world, funeral is the most protected event.
However, while on their way to the funeral, the leaders of the countries were assassinated and the key positions of London were attacked.
