After faking his death in the previous film, professional assassin Arthur Bishop now lives peacefully in Rio de Janeiro under the pseudonym Santos. A girl named Renee Tran learns of Bishop's true identity and says her boss wants him to kill three targets. Bishop defeats Tran and her group of mercenaries and flees to the island of ko Lipe, Thailand. He hides out in the resort of his friend Mei and learns that Tran works for arms dealer Riah Crain.
Some time later, a girl named Gina Thornton approaches Mei for first aid before returning to the boat parked nearby. Mei sees Gina being beaten by a man on the boat and alerts Bishop. Bishop saves Gina, but the man dies during the fight. He had to set the boat on fire along with the man's body. Bishop discovers Gina's connection to Crain and deduces that Crain predicted that Bishop would fall in love with her, then that Crain would capture her in order to force Bishop to take on an assassination mission. When charged with the theory, Gina revealed that Crain had threatened to harm the humanitarian shelter she ran in Cambodia if she did not cooperate with him. A few days later, Bishop and Gina fell in love. As expected, Crain's subordinates arrive and arrest them.
