Minions: Rise of Gru is a 2022 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to the Minions spinoff prequel (2015) and the fifth installment overall in the Despicable Me film series directed by Kyle Balda, with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val co-directing. The film features Steve Carell as Gru and Pierre Coffin as Minions, with Taraji P.
