Monster (2021) is an American crime drama film directed by Anthony Mandler with a screenplay written by Radha Blank, Cole Wiley, Janece Shaffer. Starring the actors Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Ehle, Tim Blake Nelson.
Two people enter the pub to rob, the clerk pulls out a pistol and a violent struggle ensues. Next, we see Steve Harmon (Harrison) being questioned by the police. Police wanted to know if the 17-year-old black man had gang affiliation. He was then put in a prison cell and kept in a marble room.
Was Steve supposed to be here? In flashback, we can see him in his middle-class house with his mother (Jennifer Hudson), father named (Jeffrey Wright) and younger brother Jerry (Nyleek Moore). They are a happy family living in Harlem and Steve is a smart kid who loves photography and filmmaking.
Back in the courtroom, and the prosecutor made his statements, which didn't include pointing the finger at him and saying, "He's a monster." The important thing is that Steve is not the person in the security footage - the other man on trial is King (ASAP Rocky). Steve was accused as a stand-in for the murder.
More flashbacks show Steve taking photos and videos of friends on the street. He talked to King at the park. Steve is too young and naive, and King is an old wolf. Steve sits in class, listening to his teacher, Mr. Sawicki (Tim Blake Nelson), lecture him about putting passion into the urgency of work. Steve had to tell a true story, Mr. Sawicki said.
On the street at night, King took Steve's arm and pointed to old people and people in a hurry, everyone has their story, King said. Back to the present, Steve is in prison, traumatized. Family members visited him, and he consulted a lawyer during the trial. What exactly did he do? Is he innocent or something else.
