Released in 2004, Quill - The Life of A Guide Dog by director Yōichi Sai tells the sweet yet touching story of the Labrador Quill dog's life. Labrador Quill is a dog with a special birthmark, trained to be a guide dog for the blind. Although he is slower than other dogs, he has great patience. Mitsuru Watanabe, a lonely, hot-tempered middle-aged man who is blind gets possession of Quill but he doesn't like it at first. However, the appearance of Quill makes Mitsuru's life brighter. The story in the film brought tears to many viewers and was commented that "it would be a waste not to watch".
