Nicaragua has so many volcanoes, both dormant and active, it's hard to choose which one to climb but it is recommended to head to Telica. Much of the climbing trail is relatively flat, passing through farmland. It takes about an hour or two to start climbing to the top. The best season to climb this mountain is controversial as the dry season tends to be hot while the rainy season can make lava harder to witness.
