Titanic is a 1997 American romantic disaster film written and directed by James Cameron, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film tells the story of Rose DeWitt Bukater (Winslet), a young upper-class girl on her way to America to marry a man she does not love. On the train, she meets Jack Dawson (DiCaprio), a poor artist. The two fall in love immediately, but their love is hindered by barriers of class and circumstance.

On April 14, 1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg and began to sink. Jack and Rose try to find a way to escape the ship, but Jack is trapped in a flooded compartment. Rose was forced to leave him and swim to the last lifeboat. Jack drowned, but Rose survived and returned to America.
