The film follows Li Wenxiu, a Han Chinese girl who grew up in the Altay region of Xinjiang. With a dream of becoming a writer, Wenxiu left her hometown for the city of Urumqi to pursue a literary career. However, after many failures, Wenxiu was forced to return to her hometown and live with her mother, the owner of a small convenience store. In this wild and idyllic land, she gradually found inspiration for writing and peace of mind. Here, Wenxiu met Ba Tai, a native Kazakh boy who was good at horse riding, simple and warm. This meeting opened up a new perspective for her on life, love and attachment to her homeland.
