Another title appearing in this fall's top rom-com anime is Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura. This is an award-winning title. It will return this fall with a new anime adaptation.
The content of the Urusei Yatsura series is set when aliens invade Earth. Humanity has a chance to fight for its life by participating in the invaders' national sport game. Randomly chosen to take on the role of Alien Princess Lum is the unlucky high school boy Ataru Moroboshi. Ataru wins, but his victory chant ends up being misinterpreted as a marriage proposal to Lum. Unlike Ataru's persistent bad luck, Lum won't stop until she finds her love.
The original Urusei Yatsura anime premiered in 1981 and lasted until 1985. On New Year's Eve 2021, the series was announced by the producer that there would be a brand new anime premiere in 2022.
