Water for Elephants (2011) is a film about a former veterinary student who takes a job in a street circus and falls in love with the manager's wife there. In 1931, during the Great Depression, Polish-American Jacob lived with his beloved parents on a small farm and researched veterinary medicine at Cornell University. During the final exam, his parents died in a car accident. Jacob knows that he is homeless and has no money. Jacob leaves his town and gets on a moving train in search of work. By chance, he finds out that this is the Benzini brothers' circus train and he gets a job as an animal din cleaning up the faeces in the wagons. When the unstable and violent owner of the traveling circus, named August, learns that Jacob is a veterinarian, he hires him to train the elephant Rosie. August and his bodyguard Blackie, throw the complaining workers off the train in movement to get rid of them. Meanwhile Jacob meets August's wife and guide and falls in love with Marlena.
