Wolf Children is a 2012 Japanese animated film directed and co-written by Mamoru Hosoda. It is director Hosoda's second original feature film and the first to be written by him. The central theme of the story is the family theme, depicting 13 years of the life of a young girl Hana, who falls in love with a werewolf while in college, and after his death, she has to raise her 2 half-human, half-wolf children, Ame and Yuki, people who grow up and find themselves.
The film had its world premiere in Paris on June 25, 2012 and had its theatrical release on July 21, 2012 in Japan. It was licensed by Funimation Entertainment in North America and released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 23, 2013. It premiered in the United Kingdom in late October 2013 with a DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Deluxe edition from Manga Entertainment following on December 23, 2013.
