10-year-old Sakura Kinomoto is an ordinary 4th grader living in Tomoeda until one day, she stumbles upon a mysterious card book titled "The Clow." Contemplating her discovery, she inadvertently creates a magical wind that scatters the cards throughout town.
The accident awakens the Sealing Beast—Keroberos, nicknamed "Kero"—who tells Sakura that she has unleashed the mystical "Clow Cards" created by the sorcerer Clow Reed. Due to each Card's ability to operate independently and their incredible power, Clow sealed them off. Now that they have been released, the Cards pose a great danger to the world, and Sakura must put an end to them.
Assigning Sakura as "Cardcaptor" and giving her the Key to the Seal, Kero tasks her with finding and recovering all the Clow Cards. Together with her best friend Tomoyo Daidouji, and with Kero's guidance, Sakura must learn to balance her new secret quest with her daily troubles as she embarks on her magical adventure as Sakura Card Leader.
