Finding Forrester
Finding Forrester is a 2000 American television series written by Mike Rich and directed by Gus Van Sant. In the film, a black teenager, Jamal Wallace, is invited to attend a prestigious private high school. Jamal Wallace is an inner-city kid from the Bronx with a talent for basketball and a genius for writing. Although always a C student, Jamal was noticed by a prestigious New York City cram school when he scored well on his standardized tests. While Jamal is given a heavy responsibility at his new school, both he and the school know that the real reason they chose him was because of his prowess on the field.
Befriended by classmate Claire and helped by Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Forrester, Jamal pursues his dream while overcoming obstacles posed by his bitter literature teacher. When Jamal is helped by Forrester, he also finds himself helping to change the old writer's mind, forcing him to confront his past and future.
