The best gangster movie trailer of all time Miller's Crossing
This is the best gangster movie of all time from the writer and director duo Joel and Ethan Coen, Miller's Crossing is the story of two conflicting crime bosses in the United States of the prohibition era. Tom Reagan (Gabriel Byrne), the right-hand man of the dominant crime boss Leo (Albert Finney), tries to keep the peace between the two warring factions. However, after Leo discovers that Tom is having an affair with his girlfriend, Verna (played by Marcia Gay Harden), Tom is removed by Leo and becomes divided right in the midst of the troubles happening around him. With more events, more complex than what can be described here, Miller's Crossing is a well-planned postmodern take on the classic gangster/noir genre.
Almost every character in Miller's Crossing is brought to life on screen. From hot-tempered rival gang boss Johnny Caspar (Jon Polito) to scheming Bernie (John Turturro), each character brings something different. Byrne as Tom, an outspoken man. His composure and wit stood out among others as he was able to negotiate on his own in any situation and deftly taunted the thugs with the classic line "Wiseguy". He uses his brain in a world where all violence reigns.
However, Miller's Crossing is more than just a clever piece on the gangster genre. In the film's most iconic scene, Leo defends himself against a group of attackers sent by Caspar to deal with him. It's impossible not to be surprised when actor Albert Finney walks down the street in a cape, shooting a Tommy gun while Leo's mansion is on fire behind him.
The Coen brothers proved in Miller's Crossing that they have the ability to balance clever humor with shocking brutality, creating a very distinct style.
