The Bourne Legacy is the fourth installment in the Bourne film series, but does not focus on the character Jason Bourne but follows the life of a new character, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner). The film is directed by Tony Gilroy.
The plot takes place concurrently with the events of The Bourne Ultimatum. After the truth about the Treadstone program and the characters involved were revealed, the US National Intelligence Agency (CIA) decided to carry out a plan to destroy those participating in the secret program.
Aaron Cross, an agent of the Treadstone program, is given nutrients to enhance his intelligence and physical strength. When the program was threatened by the government, he began to flee from the CIA's pursuit. In the process, he meets Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz), a doctor working for the program and together they try to survive and continue to reveal the dark secrets of the program.
