The Favorite revolves around the complicated relationships between three main characters: Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), Countess Sarah Churchill Marlborough (Rachel Weisz) and Abigail Masham (Emma Stone).
Sarah Churchill, a close friend of Queen Anne, had great power in the palace and influenced many important decisions. When Abigail Masham, Sarah's cousin, arrives at the palace looking for work, her status rises rapidly, from a maid to the queen's personal guard.
Abigail quickly competed with Sarah for Queen Anne's favor. Both women use every trick and trick to demonstrate their loyalty and influence to the queen, while trying to eliminate their rival.
