Griffin Hourigan, a pre-college graduate, is preparing to enter Columbia University, thanks to nepotism (his father), despite wanting to attend Berklee College of Music. At a party, he reunites with Phoebe Fisher, the childhood friend he has always had a crush on. Knowing she was making a documentary, he volunteered to help. He asked her to hang out, but she initially refused, explaining that she had to spend the summer focusing on her filmmaking. They watch a clip from the documentary where a couple plans a long distance relationship and both predict it won't last. He helped her mix sounds, became closer, and soon started dating.
