Thor is warned of Asgard's Ragnarok apocalypse as well as the fact that Odin is no longer in the kingdom. Immediately after Odin's death, Hela (Cate Blanchett), the eldest sister with terrifying power that only Odin can stop, returns. Once a general, following Odin to conquer and dominate the Nine Realms, Hela easily broke the Mjolnir hammer and defeated Thor and Loki.
After slaughtering the army and capturing Asgard, Hela wanted to use the Bifrost bridge to expand her empire. This was later prevented and defeated by Thor, when he discovered the true source of his power, leading to the collapse of Asgard as originally prophesied.
