Tokyo Revengers revolves around Hanagaki Takemichi's journey to the past to save his ex-girlfriend, who was killed by a gang of gangsters.
At the beginning of the story, Takemichi is 26 years old, an unemployed young man, living in Tokyo receiving news that his only girlfriend since middle school - Hinata died in a fight between criminal gangs. In the moment when Takemichi was pushed down the train tracks, he was transported back in time to his middle school days.
