Investment manager Seok-woo is a divorced man living in Seoul with his daughter so-an and his mother. Seok-woo is a selfish and abandoning man so-an, who misses her mother living in Busan. On so-an's birthday, she asks to visit her mother and Seok-woo accompanies her with the intention of returning from lunch. They boarded the KTX express train, but a sick woman also boarded another carriage. During the journey, the woman attacked an employee of the train, and soon all the passengers in the car were attacked, turning into zombies. Seok-woo realizes that there is a zombie outbreak in South Korea, and together with passenger Sang-hwa, who is traveling with his pregnant wife Seong-kyeong, they isolate the cars in front safely from the infected ones.
