Trailer for the sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt sitcom is the sequel to 30 Rock from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. It follows Kimmy, a former prisoner of a cult who is rescued and begins a new life in New York. She lives in a tiny spare room in the fictional East Dogmouth neighborhood with her roommate Titus, the aspiring Broadway performer.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is great because it incorporates real, topical issues that affect New Yorkers into the plot. Take lightness as an example, as Lillian, Kimmy's landlord, tries to make the neighborhood less appealing. "This neighborhood is changing and none of us can afford to live here," she said after her wall was free of graffiti for more than 24 hours. She even chained herself to the building to prevent it from collapsing and turning it into luxury apartments. The film is thought-provoking but still exceptionally funny.
