Original anime are those that are not based on any pre-existing material, such as a manga, light novel, or video game. This gives the creators a lot of freedom to explore new ideas and concepts, and to tell stories that would not be possible with a limited source material. There are many great original anime out there, but here are 16 of the best that you should not miss:
1 Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop - Trailer
In the late 20th century, Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop debuted. Set in the distant future when humanity has been able to inhabit various planets in the Solar System, Cowboy Bebop follows Spike Spiegel, an "impoverished" bounty hunter. Accompanying him is Jet – a former police officer. Every episode of Cowboy Bebop shows us Spike's quests. Through them, the past of the characters is gradually revealed, thereby bringing us to a very touching ending at the end of the film.
With all due respect, Cowboy Bebop is a monument of the anime industry. Movies aren't just cartoons. It's a true work of art with layers of deep meaning intelligently integrated into an incredibly compelling plot. Although it has been more than 20 years since its release, up to now, the perfection of Cowboy Bebop in all aspects is still the goal that many Japanese filmmakers strive for.
- Japanese:カウボーイビバップ
- English: Cowboy Bebop
- Premiere: Spring 1998
- Studios: Sunrise
- Genre: Action , Sci-Fi
Background
When Cowboy Bebop first aired in spring of 1998 on TV Tokyo, only episodes 2, 3, 7-15, and 18 were broadcast, it was concluded with a recap special known as Yose Atsume Blues. This was due to anime censorship having increased following the big controversies over Evangelion, as a result most of the series was pulled from the air due to violent content. Satellite channel WOWOW picked up the series in the fall of that year and aired it in its entirety uncensored. Cowboy Bebop was not a ratings hit in Japan, but sold over 19,000 DVD units in the initial release run, and 81,000 overall. Protagonist Spike Spiegel won Best Male Character, and Megumi Hayashibara won Best Voice Actor for her role as Faye Valentine in the 1999 and 2000 Anime Grand Prix, respectively.
Cowboy Bebop's biggest influence has been in the United States, where it premiered on Adult Swim in 2001 with many reruns since. The show's heavy Western influence struck a chord with American viewers, where it became a "gateway drug" to anime aimed at adult audiences.

Kill La Kill - Trailer
Kill La Kill is the animated "masterpiece" of the Trigger family. Kill La Kill tells the story of Ryuuko, a schoolgirl who wanders around looking for her father's killer. Arriving at a prestigious academy, Ryuuko encounters Satsuki, the powerful student council president, and her "subordinates". There is no way for Ryuuko to defeat them... until she receives Senketsu – a special weapon that can transform into an enhanced costume for Ryuuko.
Overall, Kill La Kill is an anime with a plot... quite funny. Character creation is also somewhat unrealistic with actions and expressions that are only available in the cartoon world. However, thanks to its clever construction and excellent fight scenes, Kill La Kill turns into an extremely entertaining and satisfying anime for the audience. This movie is very good, if you haven't seen it yet, you should try it.
