Dear HongRang - Top 10 Best Korean Romance Movies of the First Half of 2025.

Dear Hongrang is a historical-mystery-melodrama Korean drama that explores the themes of family, identity, and trust. Set in the late Joseon Dynasty, Sim Hong-rang, the sole heir to a wealthy merchant family, suddenly goes missing at the age of eight. Twelve years later, a man appears, claiming to be Hong-rang but with no memory of his past.

Sim Jae-yi, Hong-rang's half-sister, has always believed in and longed to find her younger brother. But when the person claiming to be Hong-rang returns, Jae-yi suspects that he is not the man she once knew. Hong-rang's stepmother is eager to restore the family's national duties, while secrets and intrigues within the family are gradually revealed. Amidst the whirlpool of suspicion, power and the past, Jae-yi suddenly discovers feelings that are difficult to deny for her returned “younger brother” – even though he may not be the person she once loved.

Dear Hongrang impresses with its multi-layered plot, combining supernatural elements – human love drama – family, along with a splendid ancient setting and impressive acting by the main couple. The film is not only a journey to find the truth, but also a song about sacrifice, trust and love that overcomes all constraints and prejudices.
