According to research, when we are in our early adult years, have few responsibilities and are surrounded by loving friends and family, we are the happiest. But as we age, we become less happy as we begin to prioritize responsibilities over pleasure. Quite a bit occurs at this time. starting a job, changing careers, getting married, buying a home, or having children.  But when we approach 60, our priorities start to shift once more. This time, more toward pleasure than toward duty or responsibility. When life is less stressful and we feel confident about our place in the world, our levels of happiness rise.
