The Macross brand is pretty silly. The mecha anime series chronicles the conflicts between humans and alien forces. Resolution is almost always related to music usage, but Macross 7 pushes that to the extreme. Nekki Basara is an honest pacifist and rock star. Instead of fighting the aliens, he flies into battle and sings catchy rock music that forces the fighters to shift their focus.This is a change from the relatively severe tone of the previous Macross anime series. There's a lot of energy in it, even if most of Macross 7 is just songs. It manages to capture the unsettling feel of the anime's melodrama, cementing a unique experience within the franchise.
