In 1520, after the Danish prince Kristian II invaded Sweden, 82 members of the Swedish nobility who swore opposition had been beheaded or hanged in Stortorget; Old Town main square. This horror event is known as the Stockholm Bloodbath. If you happen to wander through the square on days from 7 to 9 Nov, you can see the blood of the nobles slowly flowing over the cobblestone.
