The Quiet American (2002)

The Quiet American is based on the novel of the same name by Graham Greene, telling the adaptation of a part of history as well as prominent events during the Vietnam War. In the film, Brendan Fraser plays Alden Pyle, an ophthalmologist who comes to Vietnam to do charity work for poor people.

Alden Pyle is a young, scheming and idealistic man, actually working for the CIA and coming to Vietnam with mysterious plans. In the context of the complicated relationship between Pyle and Thomas Fowler (played by Michael Caine), the Vietnam War also had more and more turning points, deeply affecting the two men. Brendan Fraser's character, Alden Pyle, plays an important role in reflecting America's perspective on Vietnam during the war.

The film is highly appreciated for its acting, mainly focusing on internal events and shaping the humanity of the characters, especially through the charismatic performance of Brendan Fraser as Alden Pyle.
