Plot: Trigun Stampede is set in a distant future where Earth becomes uninhabitable, forcing humanity to evacuate in massive colonial fleets in search of habitable planets. To sustain the fleets and colonies they would later build, humanity has also created plants, man-made organic life forms that can generate clean, limitless energy. In a colonial fleet, two brothers named Vash and Nai were born with a special connection to plants and cared for by a woman named Rem Saverem. However, the computer system of the colonial fleet suddenly malfunctions, causing the entire fleet to crash on the arid planet of Noman's Land. Rem sacrifices himself to save Vash and Nai, but Vash is painful to learn that Nai is responsible for the disaster, as he seeks to kill all humans for the crime of plant exploitation.
