Ice Caves of Vatnajokull - Iceland
The volcanic zone in this national park covers an area of 1.4 million hectares, representing nearly 14% of the Icelandic territory. Of the ten volcanoes there are eight volcanic peaks beneath the ice. The volcanic region is inhabited by endemic animals that survived the ice ages.
Thanks to its unique geographical structure and the impact between the volcanoes and the region, the area has a distinctive terrain. The scenic landscapes, favorable weather conditions and the trail walkways make Skaftafell the ideal destination for those who enjoy exploring the Icelandic nature.
