Research scientists found Catechin, an antioxidant in green tea, capable of secreted antioxidant substances in the tissues of the eye. A study published in Experimental Research in 2001 shows that green tea can actually prevent blindness caused by cataracts. Different parts of the eye absorb different amounts of catechin, with the highest concentration of this antioxidant found in the retina of the rats experiments feeding the extracted food from green tea. Areas that have the least absorption of catechin are the cornea. These findings show that drinking green tea can be considered as a measure of vision protection.
